Franzie, Beerhart & IWD
Spotlight on IWD, Franzie and Beerhart.
Mad Squirrel have created Beerhart, a beer to celebrate International Women's Day 2025. This beer was brewed by our very own female brewer Fransiska Horn who took the lead on this and created a beer brewed by a woman to celebrate women.
Franzie is a fantastic member of the Mad Squirrel team. She studied Brewing and Beverage Technology at the Technical University Munich before coming to Mad Squirrel as an apprentice brewer.
During her time here she got hands on experience across all aspects of the brewing process, from loading the grist through to filling kegs, cans, and casks. There was a lot of cleaning (because brewing requires a lot of cleaning!), but there was also quality control, sensory tastings, and even worked on a project studying how oxygen affects beer freshness.
But also she became a very valuable and highly regarded member of the team, so we were very happy to have her brew this beer for International Women’s Day. It will be available across all Mad Squirrel taprooms, Weatherspoons and other independent pubs.
Franzie is now also studying for two Master’s degrees (Brewing & Beverage Technology and Food Technology), and aims to complete them this spring. After this? The dream is to dive into quality assurance, R&D, or packaging technology — basically, anything that lets her keep making beer the best it can be! Cheers to Franzie and IWD 2025!🍻
